Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Lifestyle Medicine consultation and a Health and Wellness Coaching Foundation session? How do I know what service is best for me?
A Lifestyle Medicine Consultation will take a thorough inventory of your lifestyle behaviors with subsequent discussion on how each factor may be affecting your health. If desired, you will receive education and recommendations. Labs may be ordered if deemed necessary. Health coaching principles will be utilized to assist you in finding your inner motivation and in goal setting and follow-up.
A Health and Wellness Coaching Foundation Session will take a thorough inventory of where you currently are, and where you desire to be. Key components of your life will be assessed based on your current level of satisfaction in each area. Each session will be guided by you and your goals. Medical advice or recommendations will play a small role, if any, in coaching sessions.
If you are already aware of how your lifestyle or behaviors need to change to improve your health and well-being, but it has been difficult to implement these changes on your own, health and wellness coaching will serve you well. If you have a desire to improve your health and wellness, but are unsure how to do this or where to start, you would benefit from a Lifestyle Medicine Consultation.
I love the Lifestyle Medicine philosophy. Can I see you for my primary care?
No, I do not practice primary care. My passion is in helping people discover how lifestyle is contributing to the root cause of their condition or symptoms and helping them to make the changes needed. I will gladly collaborate with your primary care or referring physician and ensure that they remain up-to-date on your progress.
Do you accept medical insurance?
I am currently in the insurance credentialing process for my Lifestyle Medicine visits. I am now accepting Medicare and Multiplan. I will continue to up-date the website as I am added to insurance networks.
Medical insurance currently does not cover Health and Wellness Coaching. However, some companies may allow you to use your Health Savings Account/Flexible Spending Account for Health and Wellness Coaching if the service is recommended by your physician for a medical problem.
